Fall Wedding Decoration Ideas and Inspiration

Personalized Fall Wedding Table Runner
If you're lucky enough to live in an area that has an autumn season, than you already know the beauty that comes with it.  There is nothing more breathtaking than when the leaves start to turn their shades of red and orange and when the crisp afternoon air beckons the beginning of fall.  The perfect atmosphere for brides looking to add a sense of warmth and richness to their wedding day.

When decorating your fall wedding, bring the outdoors in.  Fall wedding accessories like the personalized falling leaves table runner (shown left) will look great in your reception photos and will be a definite show stopper.

Personalized Fall Wedding Photo Booth Backdrop
For added photo ops, your guests can pose in front of a matching autumn backdrop.  To pull this off, simply set up the backdrop along with a Polaroid camera so guests can take their own pictures.  They can then either take the photos home with them or place them in your wedding guest book along with their best wishes.

Another option is to hire a second photographer assigned to actually take the photos of your guests.  This way you can send the pictures along with your thank you cards as an adorable reminder of your big day.

Wooden Die-Cut Evergreen Trees

Since the bulk of your reception decor will actually be your guest tables themselves, your wedding table decorations are truly the ideal place to bring the feeling of fall into your wedding reception.

Simple touches like wooden die cut tree stands (shown left) spray-painted to match your wedding colors are an easy way to bring nature indoors.  Natural fall foliage like grasses, leaves, pine cones, and rocks also add a feeling of the season.  Lit votive candles will cast a romantic glow and add to the ambience of your wedding day.

To add the finishing touches to your table decor, fall wedding favors placed at each guest place setting do double duty, Personalized napkins printed with a tree or leaf design and your names and wedding date look great next to your wedding cake, and bare branch trees placed around your venue will add a polished look to your venue.

5 Quick & Easy Fall Wedding Centerpieces

The cool weather may be right around the corner but don't sweat it!  Creating a beautiful fall wedding table setting is a breeze with these 5 quick and easy fall wedding centerpiece ideas.  Even if you're already putting the finishing touches on your fall wedding, these stunning focal points are a must-see.

1)  Wheat Chic...
Fall Wheat Centerpiece

For an understated elegance, wheat bundles tie into a fall theme flawlessly.  Simple to put together, all you need to pull this look off are bunches of wheat, large rubber bands, scissors, and wide decorative ribbon.  To construct your centerpieces, add individual wheat strands one at a time so they start to gather at an angle.  Secure your bunch in the middle with your rubber band.  Trim the ends with scissors so your bundles stand upright on the table.  Tie with decorative ribbon and voila!  Images courtesy of theknot.com and flickr.com

2)  Rustic Fruit...
Rustic Fall Fruit Centerpieces

Fruit, nuts, and berries can be found nearly everywhere during the fall season.  Making our number 2 pick a great way to save your cash while still creating a beautiful focal point at your wedding.  Fill a wooden box with fall fruits including rustic apples, pears, cherries, and/or figs.  You can add leaves and other foliage to create depth and visual interest or go simple with a display of only assorted colored apples.  Images courtesy of googleimages.com and mattbites.com

3)  Berries and Nuts...

Our number 3 pick takes quick and easy to a new level.  Vases filled with nuts or berries are one of the easiest centerpieces to put together and yet they still look stunning.  Place a single flower or candle in the center for pops of color and lighting.  Images courtesy of celebrations.com and potterybarn.com

4)  Pumpkins and Gourds...
Fall Pumpkin Centerpieces

What better way to celebrate the fall season than with pumpkins and gourds?  There is something about them that immediately evokes feelings of the fall season.  Use mini pumpkins as table scatter around one of our other centerpiece ideas or make your pumpkins the main focal point for the whole table.  Get crafty by using a gourd or pumpkin as a vase for holding flowers or simply stack mini pumpkins on a high decorative stand.  Add branches and berries for decoration.  Set small votive candles, leaves, and mini pumpkins around your main focal point to add filler and interest.  Images courtesy of bhg.com and yahoo.americangreetings.com

5)  Rustic Mason Jars...
Rustic Mason Jar Centerpieces

Fall is commonly known by gardeners as a canning season.  Make use of grandma's canning jars with our number 5 pick...rustic mason jars.  Perfect for adding a subdued fall touch to your wedding.  Gather as many colored or clear mason jars as you can find.  Different heights will add interest so don't be afraid of mini jam jars.  Add flowers to taller jars and candles to smaller ones.

For a unique twist, turn your old canning jars into a picture perfect setting.  All you need is a 4x6 photo cut to size, vegetable oil, and dried herbs (optional).  Cut your photo and place in your jar.  Fill to the top with vegetable oil.  Add your dried herbs on the opposite side of your photo.  Seal the lid tightly and you're done!  You will instantly have a picture perfect centerpiece that has a vintage and aged appeal.  Images and tutorial courtesy of augandeverythingafter.blogspot.com and ali harper of etsy.com

Deliciously Rustic Fall Wedding Inspiration Board

Salt and Pepper Shake Lamps by Surthrival of Etsy
While browsing over on Etsy, I came across these amazing salt shaker lights which immediately got my wheels turning. Wouldn't they make an absolutely adorable idea for wedding reception table lighting?  So unique and since many venues are putting their foot down about open flames, they are a great alternative.  You could even string them up outside to light the way for guests.  But why stop there when you could do a whole theme on a kitchen inspired motif?  (Even more perfect if you and your fiance are chefs.  But still just as cute even if your not).  In celebration of all the gourmet chefs at heart, here's a little rustic fall inspiration board inspired by all things kitchen.

Falling For a Lovebirds Theme - Inspiration to Reality

Since I am a hopeless romantic, a love bird wedding theme is one of my personal favorites.  Love doves have long been a symbol of romance, fidelity, and love.  Once a dove finds its mate, they've bonded forever and their love lasts a lifetime.  Perfectly fitting for wedding themes, don't you think?

Making a lovebird theme come to life at your wedding is easy to do.  With just a few nature inspired elements, you too can turn your inspiration into a reality.

Falling For a Lovebirds Theme - Inspiration to Reality

1. Go simple with centerpieces - Stray for the normal floral arrangements and infuse these nature inspired wooden evergreen trees.  After your ceremony, encourage guests to take the centerpieces home as a keepsake from you special day.  Tip: Add visual interest by weighting cedar plants in glass votives with decorative rocks.

2. Set the tone of your love bird theme as soon as guests walk into your reception by assigning table numbers on these adorable love bird table numbers.

3.  So guests can easily see your table numbers, display them on tall table number holders.  Featuring a classic round silhouette.  The small compact design of these holders make them ideal for small spaces.

4. Frosted glass candle holders are one of the simplest ways to add warmth, ambience, and romance to your guest tables. The bonus leaf shape cutout design will cast around your reception hall also adding an element of nature.

5. Matching love bird tags, used here as place cards, will complement your love bird theme perfectly...and your adorable table numbers.  By keeping your design consistent through your stationery, your look ties together seamlessly without being overwhelming.

6. To hold those adorable place cards, lovebird card holders are a must.  So cute, your guests will love taking these home as favors, too!

7. & 8. To complement your nature infused table decor, wooden willow tree leaves and maple leaves will add dimension and a pop of color.  Tip: For the perfect finishing touch on your reception, tie natural grasses around your guest napkins for an easy and affordable napkin holder idea.

Easy Ideas for Edible and Fun Fall Wedding Favors

Fall isn’t that far away and for brides who are planning fall weddings it’s time to start thinking favors. Here are a few easy, edible and fun fall wedding favor ideas.

4 x 4 Personalized Green Granny Smith Apple BoxesCaramel or Candy Apples:

For this fun favor I would make both candy and caramel apples to give your guest a variety. This would be great project for getting a group of your girlfriends or bridesmaids together. Crack open a bottle of wine and spend the evening making beautiful apple treats for all of your guest. The apples can be displayed nicely using apple favor boxes that can be personalized with your names and wedding date.

Candy :

Another creative and money saving idea is making chocolate candy leaves. The molds can usually be found very easily at any craft store with directions on how to make the chocolate candies. Maple candies are also a nice fall treat. Look for a recipe on line and place a few candies in either a fall favor bag or a beautiful fall leaf favor box.

Fall Leaf Cookie Cutter Favors
Fall Leaf Cookies :

Cookies are a fabulous fall wedding favor. To incorporate the fall theme make the cookies in the shape of maple leaves. If you are not much of a baker, use a store bought sugar cookie dough. You can either make or buy red, orange and green icing to match your cookies with your fall color wedding theme. The cookies, like the candies can be placed in a small favor bag and tied with ribbon. You could even give each one of your guest there own leaf shaped cookie cutter as a favor.

Any of the above ideas would be a creative and economical fall favor for your wedding. Edible wedding favors are becoming more and more popular. Set up a candy and cookie buffet and use all three ideas. Your guest will love it!
