Rustic Elegance Fall Wedding in the Catskills

Jamine and James set off to create an amazingly fun, family-centric celebration - and goodness, did they deliver! You can just feel their joy radiating from the photos of their special day, skillfully captured by Sherry Sutton Photography. It was quite the action-packed day for guests, with the wedding ceremony in New Jersey and the reception about two hours away in the Catskills of New York.

Their touching wedding ceremony was held at the bride's home church amidst all of their family and friends. Jamine walked down the aisle with her mother and father, looking beyond beautiful in her mermaid-style lace gown. The smile on the groom's face is priceless when he sees his bride coming towards him. After a bubble-send off these newlyweds and their guests headed off to their tented outdoor reception.

The fall-inspired reception was held on the groom's family property, where they had transformed a wide open field into a wedding venue with gorgeous views! They brought in a large white tent, tables with linens, a bar, DJ, and portable restrooms to cater to guests. The groom even custom built a trellis and fire pits as a wedding surprise to the bride, which brought her to tears when she saw them. The bride's family is Latin, so the evening was filled with Latin music and dancing - and lots and lots of love and laughter.

After the sun went down, the fire pits were lit and everyone made s'mores from the kits the bride and groom had made for their guests as favors.

Rustic Winter Wedding Ideas

Rustic winter wedding ideas
The magic of winter.  The glistening, falling snow, the smell of pine in the air, and a crackling fire are just the right ingredients to create the perfect backdrop for a romantic winter wedding.  Now we've all seen the winter wonderland wedding theme done before.  You know the type.  A blue and white color scheme with snowflake decorations.  While beautiful, this traditional winter wedding theme is starting to lose it's luster among modern brides.  For today's bride looking for a unique twist on winter weddings, we love the idea of a rustic affair.  Full of burlap, bark accents, and pine cones.  Don't forget to throw in a few pine trees to add some greenery.  For a unique twist, incorporate snow owls into your decor for a unexpected wintry addition.

Something old, something new, something vintage inspired...

Whether you call it vintage, shabby chic, rustic, french bohemian, or country, the theme draws inspiration from the same place - real life with a touch of whimsy and a strong dose of nostalgia. Styles like these remind everyone of a more innocent and playful time in our lives when we were playing dress up in grandma's attic and catching fire flies in mason jars.
The great thing about this effect is that it is so easy to create! Thrift stores, attics, garage sales, and junk yards (yes, I did say junk yards) are just begging to be picked through to find the perfect something old to be your something new!  Mason jars, various mismatched wine glasses, vases, and toasting flutes can be found in abundance at these places for next to nothing. Also, never underestimate what can be found for free in some of the above mentioned places. Of course it takes a little work to clean it up and make it fabulous, but that is part of the fun!
You can play up this theme by incorporating vintage accessories in your wedding as well. Cute vintage inspired flasks and engraved compacts with an old hollywood look would be great gifts for the wedding party. Lacey flower girl baskets and accessory sets also fit right in. Check out the pictures below for more inspiration!
