Rustic Tennessee Barn Wedding: Holly and Michael

We don't think we’ll ever grow tired of rustic barn weddings like this one that is absolutely dripping with country charm. Maybe it’s the perfectly romantic decor - like candles in wooden crates for centerpieces and the custom-made wooden cake stand, or the abundance of soft pastel-colored blooms paired with burlap table runners and favor bags - but it seems like the natural beauty of this affair is the absolute perfect fit for a wedding held at The Reserve at Bluebird Hill, situated in the gently rolling Tennessee hills.

Whimsical Gatherings designed the floral decor for high school sweethearts Holly and Michael's wedding and Danielle Evans Photography captured every last detail from this gorgeous summer soiree you won't want to miss!

Denver Graffiti Wedding

Monique and Aaron are the type of couple that personify cool.  Monique, the naturist, and Aaron, the scientist, these two couldn't be a better match-up.  They both give off a fun, laid-back style that you can't help but want to surround yourself with.  A big thank you to From the Hip Photography for sharing this artistic and fun wedding with us.  Here's what they had to say about the day:

Before the ceremony, Monique and Aaron had their first looks, which was very casual and then we all piled in the limo for photos around Larimer Square where we got some incredible photos with colorful graffiti backgrounds around downtown Denver.  Very fitting with the couple's style.

The ceremony took place on the rooftop at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science during sunset. The couple's dog was their ring bearer and the bride (and everyone else) cried throughout with happiness. It was a gorgeous, joyful evening.

The reception also took place at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.  Aaron is a scientist, and the writing on the beautiful vegan cake is an equation special to the couple (bonus points if you can figure it out!)

How did you meet and how did you get engaged?

We met at a friend's house during one of his many weekly outdoor summer brunches.  The proposal happened while we were on vacation on Vieques, a small island off the eastern coast of Puerto Rico.  Aaron took me for a drive to a secluded beach at the end of the island.  It had been storming that afternoon but as we pulled up to the beach that evening the clouds were breaking and hints of this crazy sunset were peeking through.  I walked out towards the water and he came up behind me with a small box and a huge grin.  I opened the box to find the most hideous ring that I have ever seen.  It was really something.  As he got down on his knee and asked me to marry him I forgot all about the unsightly thing in the box and wrapped my arms around him saying yes.  After our embrace he asked several times if I liked the ring and why I hadn't put it on.  As it turns out before he started ring shopping he recalled a dream I had told him once where he had proposed with a god awful ring that I wore for the rest of my life because I could never tell him how much I didn't like it.  Needless to say he and his best man set out to find the most vile ring in Colorado to propose to me with.  As we were leaving the beach he finally came out with the truth of the ring and we had one hell of a laugh.  In the end we both designed our own rings :)

Vision for the wedding (theme, inspiration, details, etc.)

Outdoors, metals and science.  The ceremony took place on the roof deck of the Museum of Nature and Science over-looking the skyline of Denver and the Rocky Mountains.  The reception took place in the atrium below.  Our vision was to mix my love for the outdoors and his love for science.  The museum hit both right on the head.  We used lots of copper in our decorations: copper crepe paper for the backdrop of our ceremony, copper wire around the base of the boutonniere's and bridesmaid's bouquets of baby's breath.  The flowers were very simple and included mostly succulents, wheat grass and spider mums.

Are there any special details in your wedding? (Anything you used that has personal meaning or anything DIY)

This is from Aaron: The equation on our cake is Schrodinger’s equation. It describes how waveforms evolve with time and how individual particles act as if there are complex interactions with other particles in it’s wave, even when alone. I chose this equation because Monique and my relationship has fundamentally changed our nature. All of our actions are affected by our relationship with each other, even when we are alone. We too continue to evolve over time, both as individuals and together.

Favorite moment from the day

Our first dance.  We had taken a couple dance lessons to figure out how to dance to the song we loved ('Home' by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros).  I was nervous to dance in front of everyone, but as soon as we got out there and messed up a move we just started laughing and goofing around.  It was awesome.

What was your favorite part of the wedding?

Getting my vows out.  I had no idea I could be so emotional!
